Montreal Choral Masterclass

FIFTH EDITION OF THE MONTREAL CHORAL MASTERCLASS

From February 28 to March 3 2013, six selected conductors will be working under the tutelage of Michael Zaugg with voces boreales and Les Muses Chorale (women's choir) In rehearsal and workshop, the candidates will immerse themselves in gestural work, interpretation and general rehearsal approaches. Selected repertoire will include music by Poulenc, Martin and Grieg

FOURTH EDITION 

From March 1 to March 4 2012, six selected conductors were working under the tutelage of Michael Zaugg with voces boreales and the St. Lawrence Choir. In rehearsal and workshop, Cathy Klouposhak, Claire Mallin, Antonio Llaca, Christopher Nickolson, Chad Heltzel and Andrew Schmidt immersed themselves in gestural work, working on interpretation and general rehearsal approaches. Selected repertoire: Whitacre, Brahms, Rutter, and Harris.

THIRD EDITION

ZAUGG_SLC_2010 - 2

The third edition of the Montreal Choral Masterclass was held from March 3 to March 6 2011. The participants - Rob Curtis, David Szanto, Monique Orvoine, Charissa Bagan, Melanie Marlin and Amy Henderson - rehearsed and performed with Voces Boreales a cappella music by Britten, Debussy and Lukaszewski.

SECOND EDITION

The 2010 edition of the Montreal Choral Masterclass proofed again to be a valid and welcome event. The six participants - Irene Apanovitch, Amy Henderson, Kiera Galway, Jeanne Yuen, Jonathan Oldengarm and Robert Sigmund - worked with the ensembles Voces Boreales and the St Lawrence Choir. Music by Martin, Bennet and Mendelssohn was rehearsed and performed.

FIRST EDITION

The 2009 edition of the Montreal Choral Masterclass was a huge success. Participants, observers and singers are agreeing on the value and importance of this event for the Canadian Choral Scene. The six participants - Erica Phare, Erin Halpin, Philippe Bourque, John Guzik, Garth MacPhee and Daniel Tsang - worked with the ensembles Voces Boreales and the La Ceilagh Chamber Singers. Music by Brahms, Gjeilo, Mäntiyjärvi, Ouimet, and Whitacre was rehearsed and performed.
