The Montreal Choral Institute was founded by Artistic Director Michael Zaugg in 2009.
The institute brings his vision for choral performance and choral education together in one organization. The Institute holds several educational events every the year, namely the Montreal Choral Masterclass.
The in-house vocal ensemble voces boreales is featured throughout the season in exciting performances, showcasing contemporary choral repertoire.
Each season, the Institute hosts international choral experts who work with local choirs and conductors in workshops.
The 2010 edition of the Montreal Choral Masterclass proofed again to be a valid and welcome event. The six participants - Irene Apanovitch, Amy Henderson, Kiera Galway, Jeanne Yuen, Jonathan Oldengarm and Robert Sigmund - worked with the ensembles Voces Boreales and the St Lawrence Choir. Music by Martin, Bennet and Mendelssohn was rehearsed and performed.
